Superior Paint and Power Coating are committed to providing excellent powder coating quality across its entire coating and finishing service. As such, we operate rigorous quality control processes and procedures, inspections and controls, ensuring you benefit from aluminium extrusions with the best in powder coating quality.
The latest standards ensuring consistent powder coating quality
There are several standards applicable to the overall powder coating quality and ensuring professional colour applicators conform to these. Our products are covered by these standards.
BS 6496:1984: is the standard for power coatings for aluminium extrusions, aluminium sheet and other components. This is also the standard covering the colouring and finishing of aluminium for exterior architectural windows and doors.
EN 12206-1:2004: is a more recent standard again covering the finishing of extrusions and other profiles for exterior use.
Paint drawings for accurate coverage of material
Part of our process for ensuring consistent powder coating quality is using the system company paint drawings. These indicate the primary surfaces, those that are exposed to the elements and visible faces of the finished product. Secondary faces are less important, but nonetheless coated to a high standard.
Minimal paint cover is where profile may be visible but covered by items such as seals and gaskets, door locks and other components. Non-visible surfaces are those such as the side of window and door frames, typically going up against the structure and never seen.
The Qualicoat Standard and why it’s important
Qualicoat is the leading organisation ensuring consistent quality of aluminium that is powder coated for exterior use and architectural applications. Superior Paint and Powder Coating is Qualicoat Approved.
Several Qualicoat standards and procedures are designed to ensure consistent powder coating quality. These cover tooling, polymerisation testing, corrosion testing, bend tests on coated profile, impact tests and others.
Ensuring the best quality colour on architectural aluminium
The process for achieving the best powder coating quality also ensures the materials used are idea. Architectural aluminium to required standards is cleaned and pretreated, ready for the application of the colour powder. Our machinery is designed to apply the powder coating using an electrostatic process and then oven-cured as part of the final process.
Correctly applied and with minimal maintenance, the powder coating quality provided by a professional colour applicator, ensures commercial and residential windows and doors come with high quality colours, are low-maintenance and with a quality guarantee.
